John G Ridley
John G Ridley served his country as a fighting soldier for four years in World War I. He was severely wounded in 1916, was recommissioned in 1917 and awarded the Military Cross for bravery in 1918 for service at the storming of the German defences on the Hindenburg Line of the Western Front (France).
Ridley inspired Arthur Stace, who is known as ‘Mr Eternity’, to write the word Eternity over half million times on the streets of Sydney between the late 1930s to early 1960s. On New Year’s Eve 2000 the Sydney Harbour Bridge displayed the word Eternity as part of the celebration and remembrance of this icon one-word sermon.
Journeyed for years throughout NSW, Queensland and Victoria by horse and then motor-van. Conducting well over 100 Evangelistic Campaigns.
