Response to Covid-19

We are certainly living with increasing uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 epidemic, but we want you to know that Shoalhaven Baptist Church is committed to the personal and spiritual wellbeing of all of our church community. In order to slow the spread of Covid-19, our government has restricted public gatherings, including church service.

We are no longer able to hold public worship services, or any of our other usual church activities, as our building and grounds have been closed by law.  However, what we can do is to video a church service with a minimum of people present. This recording is then turned into a YouTube presentation for you to watch on your computer, mobile phone or smart TV.  In order to fulfil government requirements while we record our services, we are implementing safety practices such as social distancing, hand washing, cleaning of hard services and cleaning of the church. We are also severely limiting the number of people on-site to the absolute minimum required to get the job done.

These are indeed extraordinary times in which we live, but, eventually, the past normality will return as we go back to the way we were living life what was only a short time ago. When that happens, we will return to our usual Sunday morning Church, Sunday School, and other ministry routines. In the meantime, we want the church to be well-positioned to move forward with preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and doing the work that God has for us to do.

With this in mind, please remember to continue your financial support for your church:

Times like these bring change, and some of that change can be positive. At the moment, our church is significantly improving its online presence, and the centerpiece of that improvement is our new webpage. All of the previous information will be moved across, and you will also be able to access the church’s YouTube channel for Sunday services and Sunday school. Shoalhaven Baptist Church will now be found online at shoalhavenbaptistchurch.org

We are also presently exploring the idea of using Zoom as a platform for other meetings, such as our Wednesday night prayer meeting and the teenage Sunday School class. Zoom was developed as a Web Conferencing app for business meetings, but it may work for us as a way of running certain ministries which otherwise could not go ahead. I will inform you soon of the developments in this regard.

Please do take care of yourself, and be kind and generous to one another in this difficult times whilst taking the advice of our Government and health authorities.

May God’s richest blessings be yours.
Pastor Richard Shellabear
